KJM Director Karen Mobbs is an experienced communication professional with a special interest in communicating science. Karen’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary Science).
Technical expertise in both science and communication, combined with a high level of motivation, enables Karen to get the key message across. Karen has a passion for communicating scientific research and issues to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
Working as a consultant since 2001, Karen has:
- produced printed and electronic proceedings for the MSSANZ biennial congresses since 2005
- developed and maintained the CRC Association website
- managed the CRC Association Annual Conference from 2015 to 2018
- edited reports for the Northern Australia Water Resource Assessment for CSIRO
- edited the Guide to the Proposed Basin Plan at the Murray–Darling Basin Authority
- developed a web-based Overseas Travel Register and Fieldwork Register for CSIRO
- written and edited five annual reports for the CRC for Greenhouse Accounting
- edited the final annual report for Land and Water Australia
- developed many smaller websites.
Karen’s previous experience includes managing the communication program of the Pest Animal Control Cooperative Research Centre and six years biological research with CSIRO.
